1. Chocks away- The aviator jacket. Maybe it’s the influence of vintage on the mainstream market or maybe it’s just because last winter was the coldest ever and another winter of freezing off your jingle bells just isn’t an option. While Burberry’s take on this jacket is simply beautiful it has a heavy price tag which means once again this may only be for attractive wealthy Japanese tourists and the girl from Harry Potter. However ‘good ole’ ASOS does provide some cheaper alternatives as does the odd vintage leather shop- so don’t despair. 

2. Remember the late 1990s…well they are back. Think Calvin Klein minimalism circa 1998. All clean lines and sharp edges perfect for the wannnabe Kate Moss in all of us .But don’t worry  if your bank account is like the budget deficit and your fatter than a toothpick. This look is actually very easily to recreate! Wardrobes are teeming with these retro suits and even TK Maxx do a good line in simple designer suits which seem to fit the bill. 

3. The Cape- Not again I hear you sigh! But yes Florence Nightingales favourite is back- lamp optional. This year’s Vintgae@Goodwood vintage shops were teaming with them so raid your favourite vintage shops for a cheaper designer alternative. 

4. The Librarian- the 1950s never fail to inspire and following Prada’s seminal collection the vintage influence is back in a big way. Think naughty librarian complete with horn rimmed glasses and big skirt. Fortunately for vintage lovers this is a look that can be easily recreated. Wholesale favourite, Fever has lots of ‘new vintage’ looks if moth balls are not your thing.

 5. Lace and shiny brocade- Louis the fourteenth eat your heart out. Chanel your inner French aristocrat with curtain like materials and luxurious lace. The catwalks have been awash with gold and silvers plus the odd bit of lace. Luckily where there is fashion Top Shop will follow and there are plenty of these affordable looks in store.
